Quilting Tips

Preparation Instructions

1. Make sure the top and back are ironed and pre-shrunk.  Remove all selvedges from your backing including seams.  Trim all loose threads as they may show through to the finished quilt.

2. Do not pin or baste.

3. The backing (lining) must be at least 4-8 inches longer and wider than the top.

4. Batting can be purchased from us. We maintain a supply of Hobbs 80/20, polydown, and both bleached and unbleached cotton. We will also special order requested batting!  If you prefer to supply your own batting, that’s also ok.

5. If you are asking us to bind your quilt, we need enough fabric to cut the binding on the bias.  We usually cut binding at 2 1/2 inches.  If you prefer a different size, please let us know.

6. Make sure items are well packed and insured.
Tip of the Month:
Hang your quilt where it will not receive direct sunlight, or constant direct indoor lighting.  Lighting can fade the colors and weaken the fabrics.

T-Shirt Quilts
Have old t-shirts that you just can't throw out because of their sentimental value?  Let us turn them into a quilt that you can display and treasure for many years.

View a VIDEO  of our hand guided machine and the process by which your quilt will be quilted.

7. If you plan to attach the binding yourself, the quilt will be trimmed after quilting is complete unless you request otherwise.
